Our most transformational intensive yet…

Deeper Deathwork is a 6-week experiential hybrid program where together (and personally) we will come face to face with death and grief. We will unravel and process our individual and ancestral grief, find comradery and companionship in shared spaces, and dance with the esoteric. In this powerful course inspired by Deathschool, you will unearth individual shadows and evolve your relationship with death and dying, transmuting grief into strength, and will emerge enlivened, emboldened, and truly prepared to safely hold space for others and their grief.

We originally designed this program as a ‘deathwork for deathworkers’ intensive, knowing that we, as deathworkers ourselves, would benefit beyond words from the kinds of ancestral work, witnessing of grief, focused sharing, and personal unfolding that it supports.

So, with the needs of our peers and community guiding us, we combined the richness of Deathschool, the mystery of the esoteric & the afterlife, the sacredness of ancestral lineage, the power of ceremony, and the wisdom of personal anthropology into a 6-week intensive that truly supported inner balance and reinforcement for those who do this work professionally.

But then… feedback and fine-tuning led us to a revelation…

This was a powerful program of intention and inner work for everyone, deathworkers and non-deathworkers alike.

We can all benefit from bringing to the surface and learning to process our internalized grief

  • We can all experience the profoundness of holding space, bearing witness, and speaking our stories out loud.

  • We can all tap into our personal anthropologies, ancestry, and lineages as a tool to move forward with more authenticity and centeredness.

  • We can all evolve our relationship with death & dying and unblock our shadows of grief in order to find the ‘why’ behind what we do and bring more of ourselves to our work (whatever that work may be).

1) Death Doula 101 - Explore the historical and modern importance of this sacred work, prepare for the different levels of emotional engagement and boundaries necessary in this field, and hear real-life experiences and wisdom from Death Doulas.

2) Home Funeral 101 - Learn the laws and logistics, basic care supplies and resources, ceremonies, and body care necessary for modern-day home funerals.

3) Environmental Death 101 - Learn about the realm of options we have after death and the technicalities and traditions associated with traditional burial, green burial, cremation, water cremation, and more.

4) Rituals & Ceremonies 101 - Discover the many rites of passage that have been practiced across times and cultures, and explore a spectrum of rituals and ceremonies, both ancient and homemade, that can be adapted into meaningful end-of-life ceremonies.

5) Plan Your Own Funeral - Learn about advance directives, death and dying options (do you want a death doula, a home funeral?), eco-friendly funeral options, obituary writing, and planning the ultimate final farewell.

6) Community Griefwork 101 - Explore how grief is practiced across different traditions, and how we might use some of those practices to process our own grief & support those around us..

  • Deeper Deathwork runs for six weeks from April 3 to May 8 Four of those weeks contain live classes, and 2 of those weeks are self-study and assignments which you receive via the Student Portal. You will also have weekly assignments and homework between classes.

  • Deathschool was our inspiration for Deeper Deathwork and we brought some of its richest parts to this curriculum! But Deeper Deathwork is a hyper-focused journey with a magic all its own. We’ll deeply unravel grief here, really delve into the esoteric, and learn within a larger community. Since we originally designed this for practicing deathworkers, it does not include any of the technical aspects of Doula Training or Funeral Deathwork that you’ll find in Deathschool (to add those segments of training, you would want to take Death Doula 201 and Home Funerals 201, if you’re interested!).

    Deeper Deathwork is also a hybrid model, with 6 live zoom meetings + material can be done at your own pace, rather than the 12 live zoom meetings of Deathschool.

    *We highly recommend Deeper Deathwork to anyone who wants advanced tools and transformation similar to Deathschool, but isn’t necessarily looking for deathworker training.

    *We do not recommend Deeper Deathwork for graduates of Deathschool.

  • We understand, and also hope you’ll stay open to the profound power of witnessing one another. But if you really don’t want to participate live, you will be able to record and submit your work to us privately.

  • All live classes will be recorded and available in the Deeper Deathwork Student Portal to watch the following day for anyone who misses a class. The portal is a password-protected space open to our class only. To maintain privacy, all class recordings will be deleted at the end of the program.
